Fall 2019 Study Group

To advance our Sangha’s commitment to deepening study and practice, a sangha-led study group is forming to discus a core text of the Mahayana path. Following last year’s study of Shantideva’s Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life, this year’s text will be the Vimalakirti Sutra. The sutra, one of the most beloved in the Mahayana tradition, is a profound, wonderful and even humorous teaching on the reconciliation of dualities.

The group will be facilitated by Lama Willa, Lama Liz and Drupon Ron Thomas. The group is open to all NDF Sangha members, regardless of path, background or geography. Participants are expected to commit to the ten week module, actively engaging with the text and attending all online sessions.

The hour-and-a-quarter long sessions will start at 1:30pm on Sundays, beginning October 6 and continuing weekly throughout the fall, ending December 22 (no meetings on November 3 and December 8).

There will be a participation fee of $108, payable by September 15 to Natural Dharma Fellowship. Cancellation before October 1 is subject to a fee of $40. No refunds can be given after the study group has started. Need-based scholarships are available; contact Ron Thomas (.) To facilitate lively online discussions, there is a limit of 15 participants. Registration is on a first-come basis.
