Anne Rugg has been practicing and studying Buddhism since 2000 beginning with the Unitarian Universalist Church and then with the international Triratna Order. She received lay ordination as “Akashavanda” (Orchid in Luminous Space) from Triratna in 2008.
She began studying with Lama Willa in 2013. Her practice is inspired by the teachings of Lama Willa, Lama Liz, Anam Thubten, Tsoknyi Rinpoche and Alejandro Chaoul. She completed Vajrayana Ngondro (Longchen Nyingthig) with Lama Liz and the five-year Dzogchen Program led by Lama Willa.
Anne served on the NDF Board of Directors and chaired the Stewardship Committee for many years. She has served as a Mitra in the Margha Program since 2017.
Anne worked in management and marketing positions in the fields of sustainable transportation, affordable housing, and public health. With her husband Doug, she has made her home in Eliot, Maine for the last 30 years. Now retired, they enjoy spending several winter months in the “Land of Enchantment” ( New Mexico!). When not bicycling, hiking, camping or hanging out with friends, Anne can be found indoors curled up with a good book or glued to her sewing machine.
