Philip has been a meditation practitioner over the last 4 decades with experience in Vipassana, Zen, and Tibetan Buddhism. For the last 18 years, he has practiced intensely in the Dzogchen tradition with various teachers, including Lama Surya Das, Lama John Makransky, Lama Willa Miller, Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche, Tsoknyi Rinpoche, and Anam Thubten.
Philip has served as Mitra in the Margha program and has facilitated several writing retreats at Wonderwell. He is especially fascinated with the challenges of integrating spiritual practice within the ever-shifting matrix of societal, political, and environmental issues. He is trained as a Hospice volunteer and his latest passion is volunteering as a climate change activist with Citizens Climate Lobby.
I have been a meditation practitioner over the course of 4 decades, with experience in Vipassana, Zen, and Tibetan Buddhism. During the past 20 years, my affinity for the Dzogchen tradition has continued to deepen, enriched by teachers such as Lama John Makransky, Lama Willa Miller, Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche, Tsoknyi Rinpoche, and Anam Thubten.
This will be my fourth year serving as Mitra. I love unfolding the depth and breadth of wisdom and compassion teachings with fellow practitioners. I am especially interested in exploring the relevance of spirituality for facing the challenges of our turbulent times. I find that the structure of the Margha Program provides a supportive bridge between contemplative practice and spiritual engagement. I am also a Meditation Teacher with NDF.
