Laura Howell has been practicing meditation since 1988 when she began attending retreats led by Baba Ram Dass and chanting with Krishna Das. Her primary teacher is Lama Willa Miller whom she first met in the mid 2000’s and has been deeply inspired by.
Laura’s connection with Tibetan Buddhism and especially the practices of Dzogchen and Mahamudra became clear in the early 1990’s. She practiced under the guidance of Lama Surya Das for 15 years and has had the great fortune to also receive teachings in retreat from Nyoshul Khenpo Rinpoche, Anam Thubten, Tsoknyi Rinpoche, Lama Liz Monson, and Pema Chodron, among others.
Laura resides in North Andover, MA where she is the spiritual director of Great Pond Sangha, which she and her husband Brad co-founded in 2004. She is a licensed psychotherapist, poet, beekeeper, mother of two grown sons, and active in North Parish Unitarian Universalist Congregation.
