Visceral Enlightenment: Somatic Practice as a Dharma Path

Lama Willa Miller, Martin Aylward
December 18, 2021

10:30 am – 12:00 pm ET

Co-sponsored by Barre Center for Buddhist Studies and Natural Dharma Fellowship’s Wonderwell Mountain Refuge

We often think of meditation as a mental practice. But what if meditation is understood as a bodily practice? In what ways might the Buddhist path to liberation be a somatic practice of an ever-deepening attunement to the wisdom of our bodies? Join Willa Baker and Martin Aylward as together they explore the importance of the body for the practice of the dharma. Drawing on their recent books—The Wakeful Body and Awake Where You Are—Willa and Martin will engage in a dialogue on the role of the body as a guide for awakening.

Please use this link to register for the program on the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies website. The Zoom link will come from BCBS a few days before the event for those who register ahead of time. Those who register 3 days or less before the event will get the Zoom link right away with their confirmation email. The recorded session will be available to registered participants 48 hours after the program.
