Natural Dharma Fellowship is thrilled to co-sponsor with Bhumisparsha a monthly Chenrezig practice group led by Lama Rod Owens. Bhumisparsha is a spiritual community co-founded by Lama Rod and Lama Justin von Budjoss whose mission is to make Tantric Buddhism more accessible to North American practitioners and to connect spiritual practice with social change (https://www.bhumisparsha.org/).
Lama Rod invites us to lean into challenges arising in our practice. Drawing from a Tantric Buddhist technique known as yidam practice, he introduces one of the tradition’s most accessible methods for generating the energy of love. In this practice, the Tantric deity known in Tibetan as Chenrezig (Sanskrit: Avalokiteshvara) becomes a representation of our own capacity for boundless love, opening a doorway into its energy and wisdom. Through this approach, we can begin to relate to this expression of kindness and compassion through a direct experience of our own loving qualities, one of the most skillful ways to hold space for difficult emotions as they arise.
Lama Rod previously offered this practice during a retreat hosted by Catalyst Cooperative Healing (https://catalystch.com/) in Easthampton, MA in August 2022. Recordings of those teachings can be found here but are not necessary to watch before the first practice group session.
Stay tuned for dates and times of future monthly meetings.
