Launch of Year End Giving annual appeal

A letter from Kathe McKenna, President of the Board, Natural Dharma Fellowship

Dear Friends,

Thanks to you and all our Sangha, Natural Dharma Fellowship is back to full, normal offerings of programs on-line and in-person at our Wonderwell Mountain Refuge retreat center. During the past year, NDF reached practitioners in 39 states and 30 countries around the world as technology has enabled so many to be part of our offerings of teachings and practices.

NDF is committed to creating a Refuge in this sea of individual and collective anxiety through our weekly sitting practice; practice tracks such as our special Margha Program; on-line retreats; Dharma Sundays; and the many offerings for deeper study in the practices of wisdom and compassion for ourselves and for the chaotic world around us.

With this letter I am inviting you to recognize the role NDF plays in your spiritual path and asking you to consider making a year-end tax-deductible gift to support our community. A gift of $20.00, $50.00, $100.00, or any amount at all will be gratefully acknowledged and put to work immediately.

As a member of the NDF Sangha, you and your fellow members are the bedrock of our existence. The chart below clearly shows that your membership and annual gifts, and participation in our retreats provides over 90% of our annual operating support. Without your generosity, there would be no NDF, and we are deeply for your support. Thank you!

Recent years have presented unprecedented challenges for spiritual practice. The issues surrounding race, power, gender, climate, and social violence have come sharply into focus in our country and around the world during the COVID pandemic. The Dharma teachings have never been more relevant. Our leaders—Lama Willa and Lama Liz and our Board—have stepped up to the challenge with personal teachings and relevant program offerings. As Lama Liz said at recent retreat:

NDF stands in contrast to the insanity we are seeing unfold in the world. NDF aims to be an ongoing encouragement for us to find our deepest innate resources of goodness, sanity, compassion, love, kindness, clarity, direct clear action, and responsiveness. Ways of being that are not subject to ego’s desires, hopes, fears, belligerence, or bullying. Ways of being that encourage us to look into the nature of who we fundamentally are, and access from this deep place a profound stability and sanity that truly does exist within us and therefore can be brought out and revealed to the world simply by being who we really are, a beacon of sanity and goodness in this world—a beacon of light.      ~~ Lama Liz Monson
We are so grateful for your willingness to help support the people and activities that make NDF and Wonderwell the special gifts they are to the world. We look forward to seeing you at our numerous virtual and in-person events, as you and our entire Sangha continue to manifest what it means to be a compassionate presence in this world.
Thank you!
